LC State provides living accommodations for students in five residence hall environments that house 29-120 students and a few smaller themed Living Learning Communities (LLC) that house 6-20 students. The residence halls and LLC's create a personal environment and greater opportunity for campus involvement and lifelong friendships. All facilities have easy access to the Student Union Building, food service facilities, and the Library, and are within a short walk to any classroom building on campus. The residence halls and some LLC's are staffed with professional staff and trained student leaders (Resident Assistants). Residence Life staff are trained with the skills necessary to work with students to build a positive community within our halls, to enforce the rules and regulations, and to assist students in their academic and emotional growth.

Application Procedure

  1. Complete an on-line application on our website at http://www.lcsc.edu/residence-life or request housing information from the Office of Residence Life, Talkington Hall Basement, 208-792-2053, or reslife@lcsc.edu.
  2. Pay the $200 deposit online at http://www.lcsc.edu/residence-life.

Room and Board

Room and board rates are charged to the student's account on a semester basis, although the commitment is for the full academic year. A $35 residence hall activity fee is charged per semester. Contracting for a room in one of the residence halls may require that a student purchase a meal plan. New students are placed in available spaces in the order that the College receives the License Agreement and the $200 deposit. The License Agreement, by itself, will not hold a room for a student.

Upon receipt of the License Agreement and the $200 deposit, the student will be informed of their status in relation to available rooms. A limited number of rooms are available each year. If more License Agreements are received than the number of available rooms, students may be placed on a waiting list. It is important to apply to live on campus as early as possible.

Room and Board Rates, Academic Year Contract

Please check our website for the most up to date pricing for residence hall rooms and meal plan information. For more information on financial policies as they relate to room and board payments and/or cancellations, please see the License Agreement.

We offer three meal plans as part of the room and board fixed rate. Choice of meal plans include a breakfast (weekdays), lunch (weekdays), brunch (weekends) and dinner meal every day. Students may use flex dollars to purchase snacks, beverages and meals not covered under their plan at all dining facilities on campus, including at concession stands during athletic and special campus events.  Please see the Meal Plan page to see which residence hall requires a meal plan, and which options are available for a specific building.

Academic Year CONTRACT

All License Agreements are for the entire academic year, students must reside on campus during both fall and spring semesters. The only exceptions to this policy are if a student is no longer an LC State student for Spring semester, is newly married before Spring semester begins, or is called for active duty in the military.  Students who begin during the spring semester are only contracted for that semester.

Off-Campus Rentals

A very limited number of College owned off-campus houses and apartments are available for students. Students may complete an application for off-campus housing or call 208-792-2053 or e-mail at reslife@lcsc.edu with questions. Vacancies are filled first from current residence hall students during the Room Selection process in March.  If there are any available rooms they may be filled with applicants from off-campus.

Residence Life also maintains a listing of community listings as a courtesy to students.  This information is not verified and students are cautioned to use common sense when communicating and renting to and from strangers.  https://www.lcsc.edu/residence-life/housing-options-pricing/off-campus-rentals
