English Minor

A minor in English has value to anyone seeking a deeper awareness of the interplay of thought, emotion, cultural attitudes, and artistic expression. Moreover, students who want to enhance their opportunities for employment and advancement in any field, should consider an English minor.  Coursework will help them develop skills that employers seek: sophisticated thinking, clear writing, and effective speaking abilities. The English minor lays a foundation that gives students a basis for active engagement in their communities and brings them personal satisfaction and pleasure. The minor can also be used, in conjunction with secondary teaching certification in another area, to meet state teaching endorsement requirements for English Language Arts.
