Creative Writing Minor

Creative writing cultivates habits that will serve the student in all walks of life: an understanding of the complexities and mysteries of the human experience as expressed through the written word, a nuanced ear for the music inherent in a composition, and a discerning eye for the significant details that are essential to good writing. Immersion in any or all of the major genres works toward compositions that are luminous and lyrical. Within a supportive and discriminating workshop composed of fellow writers, students explore, experiment with and share techniques that provide new insights into their lives and literary traditions. Creative Writing minors learn to closely read, critique, revise, and craft a deeply-felt experience that resonates with readers and enriches the traditions of human knowledge.
