The chemistry minor provides students with a broad overview of the discipline of chemistry.  Students will be introduced to the concepts and principles in the major sub-disciplines in chemistry in both lecture and laboratory settings.  Students will apply chemical principles to solve qualitative and quantitative problems, think critically and recognize chemistry in their everyday lives.  Students will also develop their technical skills, understand experimental methods and learn techniques and instrumentation commonly encountered in a chemistry laboratory.  The minor is valuable for students in other science disciplines that want to develop a deeper understanding of how chemistry intersects their fields.

The minors are not solely, or even primarily, for Natural Sciences & Mathematics majors. Students from many allied programs, including Kinesiology, pre-Nursing and Education, often pursue minors within the Division. Students interested in acquiring a minor for teacher certification should first consult with their academic advisor and the Education Division.
