English Minor
The English minor is a valuable complement to any degree program. Literature, language, and writing are at the heart of how human beings make meaning. Coursework develops the sophisticated thinking, clear writing, and effective communication skills that employers consistently identify as among the most sought-after competencies in any field.
Beyond professional preparation, the study of English offers an opportunity to study the full range of human thought, emotion, cultural perspective, and artistic expression. Students gain not only analytical and communicative skills, but the personal enrichment that comes from a lifelong engagement with literature and ideas.
The English minor also serves students pursuing secondary education. In conjunction with teaching certification in another content area, the minor can be used to meet state endorsement requirements for English Language Arts.
