Hospitality Management BAS

The Hospitality Management programs are designed to offer students a curriculum that effectively teaches analytical, experiential and critical thinking skills.  Tailored specifically to managerial employment positions, there is a strong focus on real-world applications of the hospitality, tourism and events industry.

To prepare for the challenges of this global industry, our hospitality program students will be educated in food and beverage management, hotel operations, events and convention management, hospitality accounting, and marketing.  Students will also participate in a weekly, three-hour culinary skills/lab class that teaches controls and techniques needed to understand the hospitality kitchen.

The American Hotel and Lodging Association and the National Restaurant Association certify the relevant coursework in this program.  Upon completion, the students will:

  • Demonstrate proper compliance with FDA sanitation codes
  • Understand methods of food and beverage operations and standards
  • Demonstrate communication skills needed in working within the hospitality industry
  • Demonstrate front office efficiency through machine-assisted and computer-based methods and functions
  • Understand security issues and concerns for safety and security of guests, property, and employees
  • Develop the ability to supervise and to train employees and oversee housekeeping operations

Completion of a Technical Skills Assessment is required.

BAS Requires the following:

  • Earned AAS Degree in same major as BAS
  • Gen Ed Core 37 credits
  • AAS Program Courses Max. 50 credits (Note: this can be less than 50 credits)
  • BAS Electives 33 credits
  • Total Credits Required for BAS is 120
